Ming Creek.  Before 1701.  The creek now called Minses Creek, was originally Ming Creek which in provincial parlance became Minses Creek.  This creek is in Harvey Neck, and is suppose to have been named for James MINGE of Surrey County, VA, who settled and took up land on said creek before 1701.   Winslow, Mrs. Watson.  HISTORY OF PERQUIMANS COUNTY, Pg. 450.

Ming, James.  1705.  Henry Warren & wife Elizabeth to James Ming for  £10.10s  sterling---land  known by the name of Gore, 122 acres bounding on Henry Normans side line East, West  on the land of afsd  James Ming(e) &  on the sound side---& we are bound in the some of £21 sterling.  Wit:  Richard Leary, Jeremiah Barns.  Henry (his mark) Barnes and Elizabeth (her mark).  Haun, Weynett Parks.  "Pirquimans County, NC, Deed  Abstracts 1681-1729", 1983, Pg. 49,  Deed Book A, No. 251.

Ming, James.  1727/.  Proof that James is the son of Joseph and Rachel is found in:  Perquimans Co., NC, Record of Deeds 1716-1744, Book B, page 291.
 
Ming, Joseph. 
1701.   Received 200 acres of land in Beaufort Co., NC for transporting 24 people into that state.  Thomas Ming was named in that group. From Old Deed Book 1, pg. 7, (Old page 30) Beaufort Co., NC.  In this deed, Joseph "do lay" 6 of the above rites on 300 acres to be entered 22 Dec 1701 and 11 more on an entry he made 21 Jan on Mr. Taylor's Creek.  This is also recorded in  "The North Carolinian", Vol. VI, No. 2, June 1960, pg. 687. 

Ming, Joseph.  1 May 1702, Samuel Boutwell "do lay" six rites on an entry he made 30 April 1702:  Grace Wilson, Peter Reid, James Reid, Ann Reid, Joseph MING, Thomas Purtan ( Levi Truewitt,  County Clerk).  Beaufort Co., Old Deed Book 1, Pg. 13, (old  page 42).

Ming, Joseph.  1722 James Ward to Joseph Ming and wife Rachel, my daughter, 108 acres Westward Yoppim River Bridge, also 200 acres where said Ming now dwells, 17 Octr 1722. Test. Ming, Joseph.  1723.  At a Council held at Edenton, NC March 28, 1723.   A petition of Nathaniel Martin setting forth that Joseph Ming obtained a patent in the year 1701 for 150 acres of land lying in Pasquotank which is not seated and planted as the law directs and prays a Lapse Patent may be granted him for the same.  And the president informing this board that the land mentioned in the petition has been seated to his knowledge for near 20 years.  Ordered that the petition be rejected.   Saunders, William L..  "Colonial Records of North Carolina", Vol. 2, 1886, Pg. 484.

Ming, Joseph.  1744.  Samuel Gregory, of Chowan Co., "Ordanary Keeper" for £600 paid by Joseph Creecy of aforesaid, "Cordwinder"(sic)  sold 325 acres on North side of Yopin Swamp, in Perquimans Co., adj to James Eggerton & up the swamp to Joseph Ming(')s line.  2 May 1744. Ming, Joseph.  1749.  For the sum of £120 current bolls paid by Joseph Ming and Thomas Ward, Timothy Truelove sold them 250 acres of land.  This land adjoined land already owned by Thomas Ming and also land owned by Joseph Ming along the Yoppin River.  Witnessed by Thomas Calloway, David Butler, and John Calloway.  11 July 1749, Regestered 30 July 1749.  Microfilm C.024.40002,  Book C-2, Pg. 180,81, Chowan Co., NC.  Microfilm C.024.49505, Chowan Co., NC, Cross Index to Deeds Vol. B,1695-1878

 Ming, Martha.  1741.  Nathaniel's wife is proven in Deed Book A, pg. 120, 1741.  In this deed, it is also proven that Martha is the daughter of Thomas Horth, late of Chowan Co.  The indenture was made 21 Jan 1741.  See also:  Microfilm C, 024.49501,  Chowan Co., NC, Cross Index to Deeds, Grantor, Vol. A, 1695-1878, State Archives, Raleigh, NC.

Ming, Nathaniel.  1707.   He being the son of Joseph and Sarah ming is proven in the fact that Sarah indentured Nathaniel to Christopher Gale on 7 Aug 1707.  He would be 8 years old on 17 Nov 1707 and would serve until he was 21.  He was to learn the art of navigation.  Deed Book 1, pg. 77, 8 Oct 1707, Beaufort Co., NC.

Ming, Nathaniel.  1752  Nathaniel sold 120 acres of land to Christian Pratt which had been patented to him in 1729.  BERTIE COUNTY DEED BOOK  G, page 483

Ming, Nathaniel.   1768.  Know all men by these presents that we, Thomas Ming, son of Thomas, Thomas Ward and Thomas Ming, son of  Nathaniel, planters, are held and firmly bound unto His Excellency, William Tyron, Esq., Governor and Commander, and Chief of North Carolina in full and just some of £400 Proclamation money;  to br paid to his said Excellency, William Tyron, his successors or assigns:  To the which payment well and truly be made, we bind ourselves, out heirs, Excutors and adminiustrators, jointly and severally firmly, by these presents.  Seal with our seal and dated this 21st day of March, Anno Dom. 1768.  Photocopied from North Carolina State Archive, Raleigh, NC.

Ming, Ruth. 1726.  Ruth Ming (Minge) of Perquimans, widow, for £70 paid by Col. Richard Sanderson, of same, assigns "right of a Paln" on Northeast side of Albemarle Sound, and lower side of Bentleys Creek, commonly called "Gore Land" where on I now live.  21 Dec 1726. Test. Ming, Thomas.

Ming, Thomas.  1762.  13 Sept 1762.  Thomas Ming of Chowan, Richard Rogers & Delight Nixon of same, for £310 sold to said Rogers & Noxon 120 acres, a grant to James Ward, 29 Sept 1706, who conveyed same to his grandson James Ming, he dying without issue, said land became property of his brother Thomas Ming, Joseph Ming, dec'd (land at the bridgeneck, on the head of Yopim River) said land devised to said Thomas by the will of his father Joseph Ming, 258 acres in the fork of Eggerton's Mill Swamp, called "Bridge Neck" adj. Minge, George.  1740.  John Minge and George Minge of Westover Parish in Charles City Co., to Maj. Benjamin Harrison of Southwarke Parish   in Surry Co., for £ seventy five  current money --- 600 acres (being a tract of land which was left to John Minge and George Minge by the will of their father, Valentine Minge, (dated 18 March 1719) on Joseph's Swamp in Albemarle Parish.  Wit:  J. Minge, James.
  20th Sept 1699.  “James Minge claiming 2300 acres of land being a part of a tract surveyed for him anno. 1683 containing 5972 acres whereout was taken for the Royal College of William  and Mary 3672 acres and producing the survey thereof it is ordered that the surveyor of the County     survey and lay out the said 2300 acres for the said MINGE some time after the 6th day of the next General Court the said MINGE producing such rights as shall be allowed by the Honble. Genll.    Court and that returne thereof be made forth the first Tuesday in Aprill next having especiall  regards to the said land surveyed by the College and not to entrench thereon“.  Haun, Weynette Parks.
